Foreword for 2010
I even received an email that said this:
“7 Tips to Starting Your New Year on a Positive Note”
1. Get rid of all the clutter on computer desk
2. Tidy up your book shelves
3. Check your email and delete all your junk mails
4. Update your Internet browser
5. Update your software
6. Ensure your computer hardware is in good working condition
7. Backup your hard drive
It’s all useful advice, but I actually wonder how many people resolve to make a positive change for their own personal reasons? I say that because the herd mentality tends to creep into minds and take hold of our actions. As a result, we tend to treat our resolutions as a formality for ushering in the New Year…just because our friends or relatives or colleagues are doing the same thing!
What worries me is that most people rob themselves of the chance to find within their own hearts what they truly want in life. As a result, they are burdened by experiences, values and emotional baggages belonging to others – make more money, get a fitter body, find a soulmate or else relatives would sneer at you for being unwanted at a certain age, among other things. At the end of the day, nearly every resolution looks like it came out of a cookie cutter and they all look the same.
Before we pen down our personal resolutions, how many of us have actually sat down and seriously think over our true purpose in life? In fact, as you are reading this email, think over what truly makes you live life to the fullest? What is your reason for living? What are your ultimate goals, hopes and dreams? What is your higher calling in life?
And if you are committed to making a change, what positive difference would you make in the lives of others as a result of that change? What are the necessary steps that you have to personally take to turn your life into a great success?
When you want something, all in the universe will conspire to help you achieve it. It’s never too late to start anew, seize greater opportunities and become who you’ve always wanted to be.Life is not about following what others do, but finding the real answers within the depths of your heart, mind and soul. And always remember that in life, you are blessed with the ability to choose, and if you don't have the personal resolve to exercise that ability, others will choose for you.
Dance as though no one is watching you.
Love as though you have never been hurt before.
Sing as though no one can hear you.
Live as though heaven is on earth.

SkyQuestCom is now Singapore's #1 Fastest Growing Technology Company!

To determine the fastest growing companies, Deloitte calculated the revenue growth percentage over 3 years. Judging from the stringent requirements, making this list is quite an accomplishment for us.
People have asked me if there's a secret to our success and I always tell them that we work harder than others.
Overall, companies that ranked on the Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific 2008 programme had an average growth rate of 707%. SkyQuestCom, on the other hand, achieved a sustained revenue growth of an amazing 2,724.33% during this period! This is nearly 8 times the average of the other fastest growing technology companies. This makes us the #1 fastest growing technology company in Singapore and the 11th fastest in the Asia Pacific region. Given today’s up and down economy, it’s no surprise that 2,700+% is a dream that many companies, including MNCs, have found challenging to attain.
Mr. Ian Thatcher, partner-in-charge of Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific programme commended us by saying, “Attracting enough customers to attain such fast growth over three years makes a strong statement about the quality of a company’s product and its leadership,” He also added, “SkyQuestCom has shown the right stuff for growth.”
I want to dedicate this win to my team and the distributors of SkyQuestCom. This win will highlight the creditability of SkyQuestCom and allow us to penetrate new markets more easily.
However we must not rest on our laurels. We have to be careful not to be complacent. We must continue to work hard and prepare for the challenging times ahead. Let’s make a positive difference in the lives of others and make our world a better place!

Making The Stage: Featuring T. Harv Eker, Blair Singer and Larry Gilman

Half a century ago, Sir Winston Churchill said those words in a speech that motivated thousands of British soldiers who were fighting the second world war.
On 25th November, 46 participants from different countries in Asia and Europe came together at the Le Méridien Hotel in Phuket to learn how to develop those abilities which will help them to shine on the speaking platform.
“Rich Dad Advisor” and Sales Dogs best-selling author Blair Singer
Participants also discovered how to create a quick, powerful and emotional connection with their audiences from Larry Gilman. Gilman is one of USA’s leading acting coaches who has worked with celebrities including Academy Award-nominated actor Woody Harrelson. They learnt how being authentic and honest are the keys to making the difference between a good and great speaker.
All in all, the training programme was a huge success thanks to the world-class experts who have shared their time and knowledge with a talented group of people who were extremely eager to learn. Although there would be some who would not take to the stage yet, I am sure that these people will now be able to get more from out of their careers and personal relationships.
As a testimonial to this, one of the participants had this to say, “I am now able to stand in front of a room and be able to move my audience more powerfully and authentically.”
Now doesn’t that call for a round of applause?

My Biggest Mistakes
My Biggest Mistakes – Story 1
This happened 3 years ago at the Tan Tock Seng hospital...
My mother had just gone though a heart operation to clear a blockage in her heart. I could see the nurses in the hospital working very hard to attend to the patients. It is not an easy job to care for the sick and old. You need to have a big heart to last in this type of job.
There was a particular nurse who took special care of my mother's ward. She was polite, kind and caring to the patients. I took down her name and ward number so I could write her a nice note of thanks and appreciate her for her service. I kept the piece of paper with her name and ward number in my wallet. Every now and then, I'd see the piece of paper and was reminded to write, but I procrastinated and put it off.
Then one day, I looked into my wallet and realised I had lost the note...
My Biggest Mistakes – Story 2
This happened 1 year ago...
I was rushing to deliver my son’s wedding invitation card. I knew I must invite Aunty Alice. She is one of those close friends who would be most upset if I did not personally invite her. I had been busy working the whole day and the only time I was free was in the evening. She stayed in Perry Crescent. I roughly knew where she lived but was not very sure of the exact directions to get there. It was about 11 pm.
I drove to Serangoon Gardens and decided to ask someone for directions. There was man washing his cab and parked inside a Shell petrol station. He was probably finishing his shift and was ready to go home. He was an elderly Indian cab driver. I stopped, got out of my car, walked to him and asked him for directions to Perry Crescent. He got into his cab and said, “Oh, Perry Crescent, just follow behind me.”
He started his cab engine and waved me to follow him. I took down on a piece of paper, the cab company and his cab license plate number. I followed him for about 5 minutes and arrived at Perry Crescent. At the corner, he just waved to me and then he disappeared. He did not give me his name or ask for any money. He was a kind man. I wanted to write to his cab company and mention his kind deed to the management - perhaps even put a $50 note inside to show my appreciation.
I had the note in my pocket the next day in the office. It was another mad rush at the office so I did not send the "thank you" note or the money.
1 week later, when I recalled the event again and started to look for the note, I was told that my maid threw the note away by accident...
Do not take things for granted. Grab every chance to show your appreciation and gratitude to the people who have made a positive difference in your life.
My Biggest Mistakes - Story 3
“You have to come back now. Mother is in hospital and the doctor said she will not last long."
It was Veronica. Her voice was shaky and worried.
2 days before that, my mother was warded. At that time, Veronica mentioned that my mother had some internal bleeding. The walls of her blood vessels had thinned. Her kidney was failing too. I rushed back immediately from Bangkok on the first available flight.
When I reached the hospital, I rushed to see her. Veronica, Lily (my sister) and the children were there. Even though there were tubes all over my mother, she was smiling when she saw me. I sat with her for a while. Then I saw a text message from a customer wanting to see me for a business opportunity. I replied to him that I was in the hospital visiting my mother and that he could meet me at the Starbuck's nearby and to text me when he arrived. He arrived in an hour and I left my mother’s bedside for the appointment at Starbuck's.
I was halfway through the meeting when Veronica appeared, with tears in her eyes...
“Mother has left us and you are here …."
My mind went blank.
I was not at my mother's bedside when I could have been there at her last moment.
There are times for everything. Be present for your loved ones because you never know when your last chance to love them is.
